The City of Richmond Commonwealth’s Attorney Office has positions available for Assistant
Commonwealth’s Attorney. Responsibilities include the prosecution of criminal cases, including felony and misdemeanor offenses, in the General District Court, Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court and Circuit Court. Attorneys will receive training in order to prepare and prosecute cases, to advise local law enforcement agencies, and to work closely with victims of crime. As experience, knowledge, and skills are developed, the attorney will be exposed to increasing responsibility, including more difficult and complex cases.
Position involves significant legal discretion and the opportunity to use a variety of alternatives to incarceration in the appropriate cases.
Candidates must be licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Candidates should have a thorough knowledge of Virginia criminal law and procedure and familiarity with the criminal justice process. Work from home flexibility is available. Applicants with prior criminal defense or prosecution experience are encouraged to apply. Salary depends upon experience.
