The Associate Creative Director - Copy is a pivotal player-coach role, balancing leadership with hands-on creative contribution. You'll guide, inspire, and mentor a team of writers and cross-functional creatives while developing standout copy that delivers on strategic objectives.
As an ACD-Copy, you will partner with Art Directors, Strategists, Account leads, and clients to craft compelling narratives across multiple touchpoints-from integrated campaigns and brand messaging to digital experiences and thought leadership content.
You'll be responsible for elevating the standard of creative output, ensuring copy aligns with brand voice, resonates with target audiences, and achieves business goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead copy development on key accounts, setting creative direction and tone of voice across projects.
- Produce exceptional long- and short- form copy while mentoring and overseeing junior and mid-level writers.
- Produce client-ready work with little oversight from Creative Directors, and with minimal rounds of revision.
- Translate brand strategies and business objectives into clear, persuasive messaging across diverse media (digital, print, social, experiential, video, and more).
- Take the lead in understanding an adhering to brand language conventions, including tone and style as well as industry-specific language, legal constraints, and more.
- Partner with Strategy and Account teams to ensure creative solutions are aligned with business goals.
- Collaborate closely with Art Directors and Designers to deliver cohesive, integrated creative concepts.
- Present ideas confidently to internal stakeholders and clients, articulating creative rationale and strategic alignment.
- Provide constructive feedback and creative guidance during reviews, elevating the quality of all written deliverables.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, cultural shifts, and emerging platforms to ensure creative work remains fresh and relevant.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of copywriting experience in an advertising, marketing, or related creative environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong preference for significant, demonstrable B2B client experience.
- Proven ability to deliver conceptual and strategic thinking that drives business results.
- Strong portfolio showcasing diverse, high-quality copy across multiple platforms.
- Excellent writing and editorial skills with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience presenting and selling ideas to clients.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and motivate creative teams.
- Strong understanding of integrated marketing campaigns and digital-first thinking.
- Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally with Strategy, Accounts, Media, and Production teams.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices, content strategy, and digital storytelling is a plus.
- Experience in producing video (script-writing, casting, directing, etc) a plus.
