Job Description
The Fleet Mechanic Lead is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Company fleet equipment to include, class 1-8 diesel and gasoline trucks, trailers, pallet jacks, and forklifts. Assist Fleet Supervisor in managing processes, support and train team members and coordinate day to day activities by performing the essential job duties
What your day will look like:
- Perform various preventative maintenance tasks and inspections on all types of fleet equipment
- Troubleshoots mechanical and electronic malfunctions, repair and/or replace defective parts as needed
- Perform emergency roadside services as needed
- Research and order parts for the shop, accurately record usage, and manage fleet spare parts inventory
- Assist supervisor in leading and training team members, and coordinating day-to-day activities to ensure efficient fleet operation
- Act as the point of contact for the fleet operations at sales center, communicate daily with sales and service teams via email, phone and meetings
- Complete electronic work orders, monitor all shop activities to ensure information is recorded in the computerized maintenance system
- Direct and assist the team in maintaining a clean and safe working environment, following all Good Manufacturing Practices procedures
- Performs appropriate duties as assigned by management
What you need to succeed:
- Minimum age of 18 years old
- Class A CDL preferred
- Valid driver’s license required and obligation to maintain compliance with UNITED fleet policy
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by position and compliance with UNITED safety policies
- Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the job
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Ability to maintain a neat professional appearance within Company guidelines
- Ability to maintain safety and security of Company assets
- Ability to utilize all Company provided resources and technology
- One-year certificate from college or technical school; or 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems on light duty, heavy duty and material handling equipment
- Ability to operate hand tools and others such as bench grinders, torch, drill press, jacks and jack stands, Sawzall, etc. as required to perform work
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, or flexible schedule as required
- Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to ensure efficient use of time
- Ability to direct, delegate, and prioritize tasks
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and inspire team environment
- Ability to demonstrate problem solving and technical skills
- Frequent bending, grasping, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, and overhead reaching and lifting, carrying, pushing, ad pulling of up to 50lbs.
- Repeated exposure to chemicals, weather, and noise
