HOPKINTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS, MASSACHUSETTS
The Hopkinton Public School District invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Superintendent of Schools. With a population of approximately 19,500 residents, the Town of Hopkinton is located in Middlesex County. This high-performing school district is home to nearly 4,300 students and over 350 licensed educators. Hopkinton is a diverse district that aspires to excel in educational innovation. Located at the intersection of the Mass Pike and I-495, Hopkinton is one of the fastest-growing communities in Massachusetts. Hopkinton has experienced rapid growth over the last decade in both population size and diversity. The district undertook the construction of a new Pre-K-Grade 1 school in 2018 and a six-classroom addition to the High School in 2021. Two major building projects are currently underway: a new elementary school to house grades 2-4 and a major addition and renovation to the current Hopkins School which will house grades 5-6 once both projects are completed.
The Hopkinton community has a long history of taking great pride in supporting its public schools and approved a 5.35% increase to their net operating budget for FY 25. The FY 25 gross operating budget was $67.7 million. Over the past several years, Niche has consistently ranked Hopkinton in the top 5 school districts. The 2024 rankings rated Hopkinton Public Schools #1 for Best School Districts in Massachusetts; #1 for Best Places to Teach in Massachusetts; and #1 for Districts with the Best Teachers in Massachusetts.
Hopkinton delivers outstanding student outcomes as measured by MCAS performance, Advanced Placement exam participation, post secondary plans of graduates and a host of other metrics. It also offers an innovative 18-22 EXCEL program to increase functional academic and career services for students ages 18-22 with special needs. The 18-22 EXCEL program runs its own business, the Niche Hop Shop.

The successful candidate for the position of Superintendent of Schools must exhibit a record of strong leadership skills at the Administrative/Central Office and/or at the school based level. They must have demonstrated evidence of past support to help learners achieve their full educational potential. This candidate should also have a record of building successful teams and developing strong collaborative relationships with those they interact with, while striving for academic excellence.
A master’s degree is required, a Ph.D. or Ed.D. is preferred. Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensing as Superintendent of Schools in Massachusetts. The Hopkinton School Committee will offer a contract with a regionally competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience, along with a generous benefits package.
The deadline for submitting applications is March 5, 2025. Preliminary interviews are planned for March 20-26, 2025. The start date for this position is July 1, 2025.
