Job Summary:
- NRG is seeking an extremely talented FP&A analyst to assist in maintaining, consolidating, and analyzing reporting for NRG's Plant Operations Business.The candidate is expected to partner with team members & the business to create, consolidate, compile, and analyze monthly financial and reporting packages including annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create, consolidate, compile, and analyze annual budgets, monthly forecasts and monthly reporting packages for various power plants within NRG
- Assist in preparation of monthly variance analyses of actuals vs. budget and latest forecasts, including investigating anomalies
- Assist in the preparation of standardized reporting of key performance indicators that will be reported in monthly scorecards
- Utilize financial management reporting systems to upload and retrieve data
- Prepare monthly & annual presentations for Management including creating and/or updating graphs and charts for both financial and non-financial data
- Gather certain quarterly information for the generation fleet and provide to Financial Reporting ensuring accuracy and consistency of data
- Compile budgets and other pertinent information for power plants to be utilized in annual impairment testing
- Foster relationships with various departments within NRG while continually seeking opportunities to improve processes
- Monitors effectiveness of business processes, conducts analysis, makes recommendations, and coordinates implementation for system and process improvements resulting in timely and correct completion of issues
- Assist in ad-hoc projects as needed
- Performs all aspects of work with a high degree of effectiveness, efficiency, and accuracy
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting or economics from an accredited college or university
- Proficient in the operation of computers and windows-based software and knowledge of Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant work experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excels in quickly conceptualizing and assimilating data to assist management in making decisions
- Demonstrate commitment to quality and strong attention to detail
- Experience in working both independently and in a team-oriented environment
- Forward thinker and self-starter who can follow directions but will also go the extra step
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in handling multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills; Able to communicate to a wide range of audiences in both written and oral form.
Working Conditions:
- Hybrid - Office and Remote Work
- Open office environment.
- Some overtime is required as special projects arise.
- Minimal travel
Physical Requirements:
- The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing financial reports and analyzing data and figures on a computer; reading; writing.
