Northrop Grumman is looking for a Principal Accountant in one of several locations: Irving, Texas, Bloomington, Minnesota, Melbourne, Floria, Redondo Beach, California or Falls Church, Virginia. Candidates must be within commuting distance of one of these locations and able to work in the office several days of the week.
This position does not offer a full-time telecommuting arrangement.
Roles and responsibilities of the Principal Accountant will include (but not be limited to) the following:
• Perform monthly capitalization and depreciation processes.
• Process project capitalization requests utilizing the standard asset capitalization form.
• Review supporting documentation to ensure cost meets the capital criteria per accounting rules, company policy and guidelines.
• Reconcile total project cost upon project completion.
• Prepare Capitalized Interest Expense (CIE) calculations and journal entries and ensure they are made in accordance with GAAP and have proper supporting documentation.
• Monitor monthly CIE run in SAP.
• Process settlement for capitalizations.
• Review and disposition projects lag cost on a quarterly basis.
• Prepare fixed asset financial reports for various sectors.
• Prepare depreciation forecasts & related depreciation reports.
• Perform asset transfers, retirements & disposals.
• Perform quarterly general ledger account reconciliations for fixed assets accounts using Blackline.
• Develop good working relationship with sectors to understand their capitalization practices.
• Research accounting rules for special capitalization situations.
• Respond to internal/external inquiries, for Tax & Audit and provide audit support for capital assets.
• Identify and assist in implementing process improvements.
• Interface with internal and external customers.
• Participate in special projects as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years in accounting or finance work experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite - specifically high-level Excel skills (including: the ability to insert pivot tables, Vlookup, and conditional formatting, etc.).
• Experience with SAP S4 HANA and Asset Management (AM) module.
• Work effectively with geographically dispersed team and customer.
• Proven ability to multi-task, produce quality results, and consistently meet deadlines.
Salary Range: $79,100 - $118,700
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
