Product Development Designer, Consumer Products
Position Overview
We are seeking a talented Designer to join our Product Development team for Consumer Products. This Product Development Designer reports to the Global Product Development Hardlines lead and will be responsible for helping to drive the product design and development of multi-category hardlines products for key retail partners from concept through to production. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in conceptualizing and creating innovative designs for multi-category hardlines consumer products, ensuring alignment with market trends and consumer preferences.
This is a 12-month, hybrid onsite position in Los Angeles, CA requiring 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and execute product design strategies that meet market relevance and consumer needs.
- Design and innovate across various product categories, including plush, stationery, and accessories.
- Translate creative visions into compelling product designs that resonate with fans and consumers.
- Partner with licensing teams to create licensed product designs that align with major studio titles.
- Conduct market research to identify trends and insights for product development and differentiation.
- Manage the product development process from concept through to market launch, ensuring timely execution and delivery of assets.
- Create packaging and merchandising strategies that enhance product visibility and appeal in retail environments.
- Facilitate onboarding of new design tools and processes, ensuring all team members are equipped for success.
- Oversee product approvals and ensure compliance with brand guidelines and quality standards.
- Collaborate with strategic partners to bring seasonal concepts to life and drive product extensions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in consumer product design, particularly in multi-category hardlines.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of product designs and creative projects.
- Experience working with licensed products and major studio collaborations is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in design software and product development tools.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills to convey design concepts effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
- Strong understanding of market trends and consumer behavior in the retail landscape.
