Systems Analysts are responsible for the definition, refinement, design, testing, and implementation of highly technical requirements based on the business / functional requirements communicated by the Product Owner. System Analysts are also responsible for the preparation and publication of technical documentation (e.g., release notes) that support the continuous delivery of software. Systems Analysts are experts in identifying and analyzing defects within their products, and work with various members of a delivery team to ensure the deliverables produced align with the guidelines and standards defined by architects.

This System Analysts role is responsible for: understanding the requirements of users; understanding requirements for team/domain specific systems including, but not limited to, Vertex O’Series and tax management; performing technical system and data analysis; developing specifications representing both user interface and data interface requirements; interfacing with the vendor on technical issues, providing input into technical designs; and assisting with the configuration of Vertex.

ROLE

● Supports the root cause analysis and remediation process to resolve defects and/or issues reported by product/application teams and stakeholders.

● Translates highly technical specifications into clear non-technical requirements that can be understood by product owners and other business stakeholders.

● Supports the implementation of best practices for scalability, supportability, ease of maintenance, and system performance.

● Prepares release notes outlining the functional and technical changes introduced by application teams within a given release.

● Collaborates with product team members to ensure technical requirements implemented by application teams adhere to the guidelines and standards defined by architects.

● Analyzes and delivers complex cross-functional business requirements and process flows.

● Performs gap analysis between as-is and to-be processes, and makes recommendations on areas for continual process improvement.

● Executes and leads the development of technical specifications by collaborating with technical and non-technical teams, translating functional designs into technical designs, validating macro designs and reviewing micro designs.

● Defines detailed technical requirement documentation aligned to the blueprints and technical designs prepared by System Architect.

● Designs, develops, and executes testing protocols to include: unit testing, integration testing, and system testing, as driven by the requirements.

● Performs systems and data analysis to understand functional design requirements and determines how the system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.

● Assists teammates in growing and developing the skills necessary to grasp application concepts and tool suite.

● Manages, defines, drives, and executes as needed, the implementation of configurations across applications and interfaces.

● Assists teammates in growing and developing the skills necessary to elicit and translate requirements into functional design.

● Identifies and resolves problems, often anticipating issues before they occur or before they grow; develops and evaluates options and implements solutions.

● Develops and ensures adherence to establishment of standards, best practices, governances, and patterns.

● Responds to requests from IT and Business teams. Works from documented detailed business requirements in context of target business outcome.

● Collaborates with both IT and Business partners to clarify requirements and to support development. Verifies solution proposal for business requirement coverage.

● Supports delivery of projects and enhancements. Clarifies requirements and performs supporting configuration as needed. Participates in and/or verifies solution design. Coaches business team on data activities and UAT. Advocates for Procurement and our partners, and facilitates good communication between the two organizations.

REQUIRED

● 5+ years’ experience working as a Systems Analyst or Functional Analyst in any domain/applications.

● Minimum of 3 years’ functional analysis or similar experience and commitment to applying appropriate skills and effort to meet deliverables.

● Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot and provide solutions.

● Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate and effectively engage with individuals at all levels of the organization.

● Demonstrated strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

● Strong work ethic, demonstrated attention to detail, and excellent time management skills.

● Proven track record for successful implementation, delivery of projects, and working cross-functionally with business and IT.

● Familiarity with XML technologies, including SOAP or REST web services, XML Schemas, XSLT, and XPath.

● Able to support off hours work as required, including weekends, holidays, and 24/7 on call responsibilities on a rotational basis.

Recommended

● 2-5 years’ of Costco business knowledge.

● Experience on SAP or other ERP implementation projects.

● Experience with tooling related to data analysis (SQL, SSIS, Data Profiling, etc.).

● Experience with tax solutions (Vertex, Sabrix, Avalara) is a plus.

● Proficient in the use of the Google products: email, spreadsheet, document, presentation.

● Working knowledge of ServiceNow (Carts+) Portfolio & Program Management module.

● Past experience with Agile.

● Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.

Pay Ranges:

Level 2 - $90,000 - $120,000

Level 3 - $115,000 - $145,000
