Yale seeks a visionary, collaborative and exceptional leader to serve as the next Director of the Marx Library. Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Research & Learning, the Director provides vision and leadership for a team of twelve librarians supporting research and learning in science, engineering, social science, management, and related interdisciplinary programs, as well as student success initiatives.
Under the Directors leadership, the department will expand working relationships and collaborations with students, researchers, research centers, and university units to deliver a program of services and expertise that accelerates scholarship. Through robust assessment and user engagement, the Director will ensure that the units program, spaces, collections, and projects are grounded in faculty and student needs, and that the team is positioned to support Yales dynamic research and learning landscape.
The Director will develop and nurture relationships across the university, and act as an ambassador to academic department leaders, university administrators, and campus units. The Director will communicate and collaborate with colleagues from other Yale Library units and participate regularly in collaborative projects. They will work across the Research & Leaning portfolio to develop and maintain research and learning support programs and services and work broadly across the library to advance organizational strategies.
The Director is expected to demonstrate leadership within Yale Library and the University and, as well, a commitment to participation in regional, national, and international professional organizations. The Director must also demonstrate a strong commitment to agile, responsive, and innovative services and programs in support of research and learning at Yale.
